Ahhh . . . Valentine's Day

I realized Wednesday that I had done very little prep for Valentine's Day and then decided that I must make the holiday memorable . . . for two not quite two year olds who will have no recollection of the event.

So we colored on construction paper and made a heart banner. All went well at first. Then JJ tried to eat a crayon and was very indignant when I wouldn't let him. Then he tried to take Annie's crayon and she became very indignant over that. Then I said let's put the crayons away and much crying came forth. Oh well. The banner turned out pretty cute despite it all.

The Gent and I have always shared Valentine's Day breakfast together. It used to be a romantic meal for two and now has become a family event. The Gent made waffles for all and the kids thought it was the greatest thing ever, especially with sides of banana and turkey sausage.

Annie and JJ had a blast opening their Valentine cards and presents from their grandparents.

Honey came over and helped us decorate heart cookies. This little Valentine memory went much more smoothly with an extra set of hands! Rest assured Annie and JJ were very happy and enjoyed indulging in a cookie or two and lots of sprinkles.

The picture of the finished cookies is on Instagram. I'm too lazy to upload it here, too. Also missing: photos of the Gent and I indulging in fondue after the delightful children who took no afternoon naps went to bed. :) Happy belated Valentine's Day, y'all.
