Here she is! Sophie Elizabeth, born May 29 at 1:03am. I think her stats are 8lbs 12 oz and 21 inches long, but I'm going to have to double check that. :) We are in love with our newest little girl!

Baby Watch + Summer Goals for Toddlers
The house is clean, laundry is done, there are a dozen meals in the freezer. I got a pedicure and a haircut. JJ is settled back in. We're ready for a baby. I told Peanut to please come before I have to clean house again. :) She'll show up whenever she's ready (due date was yesterday) and my doctor assures me labor is going to be quick. That sounds good to me. Praying for a healthy baby, easy delivery, and no complications afterwards. So excited to meet our littlest girl soon!!
I have some very lofty goals for my two two year olds this summer. We're going to tackle them after the baby comes and we get settled back in. Wish us luck in:
- getting rid of the sippy cups and transitioning to real cups
- potty training
- moving JJ to a big boy bed
In between these exciting goals we'll be having fun at the zoo, park, and splashpad, playing in the sprinkler, reading lots of books, and playing with every toy in the playroom every day.
Happy weekend, y'all!
There's a full moon tonight so maybe that will bring on labor . . .

Short JJ update and more Annie pictures
JJ is back with us until his next court date in August. His case will be transferred to yet another social worker soon, and I may get a little more information then. But for now we are happy he is here! Please continue to pray for all of us.
And I have more Annie pictures for you. We went to the botanical gardens a couple of weeks ago. She had a great time running (emphasis on the running part--she does not do slow) all over and exploring the beauty around us.
I'm not sure what this face is for.
Or this one.
Hey, look, she's still!
She plopped down on the edge of a flowerbed and said, "take my picture, Mommy!"
The roses were in full bloom.

Twitter Angst
So last week Twitter suspended my account for no reason. They have reinstated it now. No explanation, of course. But you may have to re-follow me now: AbbasGirlFamily. Baby news will break there sometime in the next . . . three weeks. ;)

JJ's Back. For now.
Hi friends and family,
JJ is back with us for now. There were some new developments in his case over the weekend and his guardian decided it would be best if he returned to foster care. So JJ came back to us last night and we are so happy to have him here. Annie keeps running around saying "JJ back, JJ back!" Our little guy has had a rough month but we're trying to get him sorted back out. Hopefully before the baby comes. :) He goes to court again next Wednesday and we'll see what happens then. He is currently on his fourth social worker . . .
Please continue to pray for JJ as he adjusts to being back with us and for his long-term future. Pray for his social worker, attorney, and the judge in the case. And pray for his guardian and his birth family.
Today is JJ's second birthday. Happy birthday, sweet boy!

New Year's Resolutions and a Declaration of Dependence
I know it's May, but I never got around to posting these.This year I chose four very manageable tasks.
1. Do a better job of keeping in touch with those I love but don't see often. I keep in touch through email when possible. And once a month I print off some photos of the child(ren) and send them with a note to my Grandma King and Aunt Jane. Both are in nursing homes and are too far away to visit. I know they must be lonely and I want them to know they are loved and that their lives still matter to us and to God.
2. Do a better job of managing our budget. I used to use an Excel spreadsheet to plan and track our spending. It worked for me, but I doubt anyone else could understand my system. This year I switched to an online system called Pear Budget. It is $50 a year and worth every penny, I think. Very easy to use and much faster than my old system.
3. Do a better job of downloading, backing up, and sorting photos. I take about 400 photos a month. With kids, I tend to snap tons of pictures trying to get the right shot. The past couple of years I would download them all to my computer once a month but that was it. This year I have stepped up my game. I download all the photos on my camera card and my iphone to my computer in a folder for that month. Then I go through and delete the bad pictures and excessive duplicates and just keep the best ones (usually around 100-150). Then I upload the photos to Shutterfly for backup. Next year I think I'll improve on this by tagging it with the kids' ages and organizing into sub-folders so it is easier to find a specific photo when I'm looking for it. I think I will also start a favorites folder to gather copies of my favorite photos throughout the year. Then when I need a few photos for a project I'll know just where to look. But overall, I'm doing much better than last year. Steps in the right direction!
4. Start recycling. This required less than five minutes of my time. I called the city 311 to ask for a recycling bin. They dropped it off the next week. I bought a $5 trashcan at Walmart and designated it for recycling. The Gent collects it and puts it at the curb once a week and voila! We are doing a little bit more to be good stewards of this beautiful world God created.
Did you make any new years resolutions this year? How's it going at this point?
And finally, I just love the words to this hymn, I Need Thee Every Hour. We sang a version of it in church yesterday and I found myself saying "yes, Lord, I need you every moment of every day! keep reminding me to depend on your strength and not my own."

I need thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
no tender voice like thine can peace afford.
I need thee, O I need thee;
every hour I need thee;
O bless me now, my Savior, I come to thee.
I need thee every hour; stay thou nearby;
temptations lose their power when thou art nigh.
I need thee, O I need thee;
every hour I need thee;
O bless me now, my Savior, I come to thee.
I need thee every hour, in joy or pain;
come quickly and abide, or life is vain.
I need thee, O I need thee;
every hour I need thee;
O bless me now, my Savior, I come to thee.
I need thee every hour; teach me thy will;
and thy rich promises in me fulfill.
I need thee, O I need thee;
every hour I need thee;
O bless me now, my Savior, I come to thee.
I need thee every hour, most Holy One;
O make me thine indeed, thou blessed Son.
I need thee, O I need thee;
every hour I need thee;
O bless me now, my Savior, I come to thee.

Chatterbox
I was trying to get some video of Annie talking and of course as soon as I pull out the camera she decides to be quiet. The Gent managed to draw her out a little. Usually she is my little chatterbox! "Chatterbox, Mommy?" "Yes, Annie, you are a chatterbox. I like to talk with you." Phrases I hear often are "it's hard" and "it's heavy," meaning she wants your help. She is also grasping other concepts like up/down and in/out.
Some highlights of her week:
"Annie, we're going to the doctor's office."
"Baby's heartbeat, Mommy?"
"Yes, we'll listen to baby's heartbeat."
"Read new library books, Mommy?"
"Daddy's office, go! Picnic! I work."
And she is very much looking forward to a sleepover at Honey and Poppa's tomorrow. All week long I have heard, "Honey. Poppa. Sleeping bag. Annie go!"

Peanut's Baby Guessing Game
Anybody up for a little game? This was fun to do with Annie so I thought we'd try it again. Take a guess at:
1. What baby's name will be
2. What day she will be born
3. How much she will weigh
For information purposes, I'm due May 23. My weight gain and baby's growth are almost identical to Annie's. Annie was four days past her due date and weighed 7lbs, 4 oz. Guess away!

JJ's Birthday Party
We hosted JJ's monkey birthday party this weekend. He was with his mom for a weekend visit and she brought him to the party. We're glad we still got to celebrate JJ turning two! Thanks so much to Honey for all her help with decorations, planning, and food, and to all our family and friends who gathered to celebrate a special little boy!
